AVALON
August 2010

Hi.

Recognize Sia? She hired me to be her session bassist for a giant party in the Michigan woods earlier this month. Thank you, Sia.

See the rest of the band? We partied DEEP after the show. Primal howling at fireworks, etc. Much love to the gals. Systyrs for life.

Lately I’ve been liberally using the term “gals.”

So, it’s summer in Portland and I’ve been filling my time with swimming trips to the Washougal River, kicking ass at “Texas Hold Them” (as Phil says), drumming for Cynthia Nelson’s new band. Do you know Cynthia Nelson’s music? Cynthia is a gal that has been making groovy music for many years. She’s probably one of my favorite living songwriters. Link blast:

Another groovy guy has been on my mind: Andrew Dorsett, most prominently a multi-instrumentalist in the ’70s soft groove band LAKE. Andrew shredded on both the Lloyd & Michael set and the Key Losers set this year at What the Heck Fest. What a guy. Cheers, Andrew. Infinite bass grooves.

I wrote a new song today, set on the I-5 freeway, heading south out of the Valley during rush hour/sunset. I moved away a year and a half ago, but I can’t stop writing songs about Los Angeles.  Your river runs deep, LA!

In case you have not heard, I have a new musical project called Key Losers.

Key Losers’ mini-album ADJUST is out now!
Thank you States Rights Records for all the love!
